COVID-19 Update November 11th, 2020
First Baptist Church Family and Friends,
I would like to take this opportunity to update you all on our current and future COVID-19 recommendations at the First Baptist Church.
On November 10th, 2020 Governor Reynolds provided the state of Iowa new COVID regulations. As COVID 19 cases spike in Iowa, Governor Reynolds issued new regulations in her proclamation including a mask mandate for any social gathering greater than 25 people. After receiving clarification from the Governor's office, this does not include religious gatherings. The Governor continues to show respect for religious liberty, which we are extremely thankful.
Considering these new mandates Governor Reynolds has also asked for our help to keep Iowa open. She requested Iowans to do all they can, including social distancing and wearing masks. The deacon’s and I met last evening to implement an updated COVID-19 plan for FBC.
Here are our recommendations:
- Continue Social Distancing in all services & ministries. Please do your part to social distance before, during, and after services/ministries.
- Face Coverings are Suggested for all services & ministries. We purposely chose the word suggested, as we know there are some who medically cannot wear face coverings. Our thought process is that many of us wear masks at work, school, stores, & in other settings, therefore we wearing a face covering at church is within reason.
We must remember that our aim and purpose is to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to proclaim the Good News of His death, burial, and resurrection, and to share the eternal hope we have in Him.
Grace and Peace,
Reverend Matthew C. Froah
